Area Sales Manager-Chennai

Reporting – DGM Sales

 Key Responsibilities

  1. Sales & Business Development
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for construction chemical products
  • Drive both retail (dealer/distributor) and project sales
  • Identify new business opportunities in infrastructure, real estate, and industrial segments
  • Expand market share and ensure strong brand visibility in the assigned territory

 

  1. Channel Management
  • Appoint, develop, and manage dealers/distributors across Chennai and nearby regions
  • Ensure secondary sales growth and healthy stock movement
  • Conduct regular market visits and dealer engagement activities

 

  1. Project Sales Handling
  • Work closely with contractors, applicators, architects, and consultants
  • Generate leads and convert them into long-term projects
  • Provide technical inputs and coordinate with technical teams for product approvals

 

  1. Relationship Management
  • Build strong relationships with key influencers in the construction ecosystem
  • Engage with builders, developers, and PMC consultants
  • Ensure repeat business through excellent service and follow-ups

 

  1. Market Intelligence
  • Track competitor activities, pricing, and product positioning
  • Provide insights on market trends and customer requirements
  • Suggest new product opportunities based on market demand

 

  1. Reporting & MIS
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts and pipeline reports
  • Submit daily/weekly/monthly reports to management
  • Monitor receivables and ensure timely collections

 

Key Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering / Chemistry / Business Administration (MBA preferred)

Experience

  • 5–10 years of experience in construction chemicals / building materials / adhesives / waterproofing solutions
  • Strong exposure to both retail and project sales

 Key Skills

  • Strong negotiation and closing skills
  • Excellent local network in Chennai construction market
  • Knowledge of products like waterproofing, admixtures, sealants, repair solutions
  • Ability to handle key accounts and large projects
  • Team handling (preferred but not mandatory)
