Job Description:
A Cement Plant Mill Operator manages the grinding machinery (raw mill, coal mill, or cement mill) to convert raw materials into cement, ensuring optimal quality and production efficiency. Key responsibilities include operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting machinery from a Control Room (CCR) or site, conducting routine checks, and ensuring strict compliance with safety/environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Control: Start, stop, and monitor grinding mills, conveyors, and separators, often using computerized systems (CCR) to maintain continuous production.
- Process Optimization: Adjust mill parameters—such as feed rate, speed, temperature, and pressure—to maximize performance and achieve required fineness and quality specifications.
- Quality Control: Conduct routine sampling and testing of raw materials or finished cement (e.g., density, fineness, moisture).
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform inspection, lubrication, and minor repairs of milling equipment. Troubleshoot operational issues and report major mechanical faults.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and housekeeping standards to ensure a safe work environment.
- Reporting: Log daily production data, material usage, and incident reports.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma, GED, or vocational training in machining/mechanical trades.
- Experience: Generally requires 3–7 years of experience in a similar role in a cement plant.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of milling machinery (e.g., ball mills, vertical roller mills), troubleshooting skills, and proficiency with computerized control systems.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform manual tasks and work in a high-temperature industrial environment.
