Job Description:
A security guard protects people, property, and assets by patrolling premises, monitoring surveillance systems, and controlling access points. They prevent theft, violence, and infractions of rules, while responding to emergencies and submitting detailed reports. Key duties include monitoring, patrolling, reporting, and enforcing safety policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrolling: Regularly inspect, on foot or by vehicle, the premises (doors, windows, gates) to prevent unauthorized access or safety hazards.
- Access Control: Monitor entrances, check IDs, and ensure employees, visitors, and contractors sign in and out.
- Monitoring Systems:
Operate, monitor, and maintain surveillance cameras (CCTV) and alarm systems.
- Incident Response: Act as first responders during emergencies (fires, security threats, medical issues), ensuring safety and contacting law enforcement when necessary.
- Reporting: Create detailed incident reports and daily logs of observations and actions taken.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Observation: High level of vigilance and attention to detail.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with the public and staff.
- Conflict Resolution: Ability to handle difficult situations or aggressive individuals calmly.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to stand for long periods and patrol extensively.
- Licensing: Valid security guard license or registration, as required by local laws.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Common Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18-19 years of age.
- Valid driver's license with a clean record.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
