Job Description:
An Electrical Engineer in a steel fabrication or manufacturing company is responsible for designing, installing, maintaining, and repairing high-voltage electrical systems, motors, automation controls, and industrial machinery to ensure maximum uptime and safety. They typically work in intense environments like steel melt shops (SMS), continuous casting machines (CCM), and rolling mills.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Automation: Perform preventive/breakdown maintenance on heavy equipment (transformers, motors, drives) and manage PLC/SCADA systems to ensure uptime.
- Operational Support: Supervise electrical installations, troubleshoot breakdowns, and handle system upgrades using design tools.
- Safety & Management: Ensure compliance with safety standards (LOTO), manage spare parts inventory, and lead technical teams.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Expertise: PLC programming (Siemens/Allen-Bradley), high/low voltage systems (HT/LT), and drive systems.
- Requirements: A degree or diploma in electrical engineering with 3–10+ years of experience in heavy manufacturing or steel plants.
- Environment: Ability to work in hot, noisy, high-pressure environments, often involving shift work or on-call duties.
