Job Description:

Overview:

The MYP Coordinator reports to the Head of School. The MYP Coordinator is a crucial link between the School and the IBO. He or she is expected to maintain a thorough understanding of all aspects of the Middle Years Program and
actively endorse and promote the principles that underpin it.

Position Details:

➢ Exhibiting the highest levels of linguistic excellence, pedagogy, professionalism and commitment and prepared to promote the ethos of the School in the wider community.
➢ Assume responsibility for the administration of the MYP curriculum

Scope and sequence documents Development of unit planners 

Mapping of Approaches to Learning and Global Contexts

➢ Work closely with the Head of School to implement/drive pedagogical change and organize formal procedures in preparation for moderation, certification and programme authorization
➢ Attend faculty collaboration meeting and arrange and lead workshops with colleagues as required
➢ Attend collaboration meetings with the PYP coordinator focusing on the IB continuum
➢ Planning the MYP in cooperation with the Head of School including; strategic and action planning, allocation of resources and establishment of priorities to ensure continuous programme improvement.
➢ Providing advice, and support to all teachers as well as keeping staff informed of all current developments with the MYP including advising the appropriate faculty of any new publications relevant to their subject areas and/or positions within the School.
➢ Undertake teaching from Years 7 -12 as and when required.
➢ Drive the school for maintaining all documentation aspect required by different bodies
➢ Steer and support all the staff for the MYP authorization and prepare for the consultant visit
➢ Undertaking other duties as required and which are relevant to the position as directed by the Head of School 

Responsibility

  • Pedagogical leader of the MYP in the schools
  • Be familiar with and advise administration and faculty on all IB MYP related documents
  • Oversee implementation of Areas of Interaction in schools
  • Ensure the concept of internationalism permeates all subjects
  • Organize and chair a MYP steering committee
  • Coordinator closely with the Head of School
  • Develop and present orientations and other informational programs for MYP parents
  • Engage in and encourage professional development with the PYP coordinator
  • Organize, prepare agendas, and coordinate/lead professional development activities for MYP staff during the
  • early release days and for staff meetings as directed by Head of School
  • Prepare and present ongoing programs of MYP orientation and growth to MYP students

Education and Experience:

  • Relevant teaching qualifications and leadership experience from a recognized institution.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience with experience in teaching IB schools from Years 7 to 12.
  • Experience in curriculum development that embraces concept-based learning, such as the programmes of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of current curriculum development and assessment procedures (MYP).
  • Ability to effectively communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all members of the School community.
  • Cater for and support students at all levels through differentiated teaching and learning strategies.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Plan and organize work to meet schedules and time lines.
  • Apply knowledge of ICT and different technologies in the classroom to enhance learning outcomes.
