Job Description:

The Costing Engineer (Mechanical) will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for MEP projects, managing tender processes, analysing project costs, and supporting budget optimisation. The role requires strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and utility systems, along with expertise in cost estimation and vendor coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Cost Estimation & Tender Management
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, including materials, labour, equipment, and overhead costs.
  • Manage the complete tendering process, including preparation, submission, and negotiation.
  • Analyse drawings, specifications, and project requirements to develop competitive bids.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to gather cost inputs.
  • Submit commercial and technical offers to clients within timelines.
  1. Project Tracking & Client Coordination
  • Maintain CRM records for enquiries and tender status.
  • Follow up with GC/PMC/End Clients for project updates and clarifications.
  • Support bid clarifications and post-submission negotiations.
  • Assist management in pricing strategies and bid optimisation.
  1. Vendor & Supplier Management
  • Coordinate with procurement teams to evaluate vendor and supplier quotations.
  • Negotiate pricing and commercial terms to achieve cost savings.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and suppliers.
  • Support vendor finalisation based on cost competitiveness and technical compliance.
  1. Cost Control & Documentation
  • Maintain accurate documentation of estimates, BOQs, and cost records.
  • Ensure cost data is updated for future benchmarking and analysis.
  • Support project teams with cost insights during execution.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  1. Compliance & Quality Standards
  • Ensure estimates align with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives.
  • Maintain transparency and audit-ready documentation.

 Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cost estimation within HVAC or construction/MEP industries.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, Fire Fighting Systems, Plumbing Services, and Utility Systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimation software/tools.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills. Preferred Experience
  • Experience in industrial, pharma, commercial, or infrastructure MEP projects.
  • Exposure to turnkey project bidding and EPC environments.
  • Familiarity with value engineering and cost optimisation practices.
  • Experience working with MEP contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
