Job Description:
A Scrap Sales Officer in a steel manufacturing company drives revenue by selling ferrous/non-ferrous scrap, byproduct materials (slag, dust), or used capital equipment. Responsibilities include managing buyer relationships, negotiating contracts, conducting market research, and coordinating logistics for high-volume transactions. The role focuses on maximizing disposal value and ensuring compliance. 
Key Responsibilities
  • Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement strategies to sell industrial scrap, secondary steel, ferroalloys, and metallurgical byproducts.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Identify, build, and maintain long-term relationships with scrap yards, recyclers, and other buyers.
  • Negotiation & Contracting: Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and contracts for scrap sales.
  • Market Intelligence: Track global/local scrap market trends, competitor activities, and price fluctuations to maximize profitability.
  • Logistics & Documentation: Coordinate logistics, shipping, invoicing, and documentation for smooth dispatch.
  • Reporting: Prepare sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and MIS reports for management. 
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience: 8-10+ years in Sales/Business Development, specifically within the metal recycling, steel, or trading industries.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred), Metallurgy, or a related field.
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of steel manufacturing byproducts and scrap processing workflows.
  • Skills: Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of ERP systems and proficiency in MS Excel/MS Office.
  • Mobility: Willingness to travel for client meetings and site visits. 
Targeted KPIs
  • Achieving sales revenue and volume targets.
  • Maximizing net realization from scrap sales.
  • Expanding customer base and reducing inventory dwell time
