Job Description:
A Storekeeper in an electrical equipment manufacturing company is responsible for the secure storage, accurate tracking, and timely issuance of raw materials (copper, insulation, steel), electronic components (resistors, PCBs), electrical spares, and finished goods. They ensure the shop floor has necessary materials while preventing overstocking or pilferage.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Receiving & Inspection: Receive raw materials and components, verifying quantity and quality against Purchase Orders (PO) and delivery challans.
- Inventory Control: Maintain accurate stock records in ERP systems (e.g., Tally) and manual registers, ensuring no discrepancies.
- Storage & Organization: Organize stock in a clean, safe, and labeled environment (e.g., bin locations) to prevent damage, specifically for delicate electronic items.
- Material Issuance: Issue raw materials to the production shop floor based on authorized requisitions (MRN) or Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Stock Verification: Conduct regular cycle counts and annual physical inventory audits.
- Reordering: Monitor minimum stock levels and generate timely alerts to the purchasing department for replenishment.
- Dispatch Support: Assist in packing finished electrical goods and coordinating with logistics for dispatch.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations for electrical goods and maintain the store in a safe, tidy condition.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Education: High school diploma, ITI, or Diploma/Degree in Commerce, Science, or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in storekeeping, preferably in an electrical or manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (Tally), MS Excel, and inventory management software.
- Industry Knowledge: Basic understanding of electrical components, wire gauges, and material identification.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift heavy items and operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work under pressure.

- Work is typically on-site in a manufacturing warehouse setting.
- Requires standing for long hours and performing physical tasks.
