Job Description:
A Senior Electrician in a chain manufacturing company is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in a high-intensity production environment. This role focuses on minimizing machine downtime, troubleshooting complex electrical faults, and ensuring compliance with safety standards for equipment such as chain-making machinery, motors, PLCs, and high-voltage systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct daily and periodic inspections of panels, grounding, motors, generators, starters, stabilizers, and lighting to ensure optimal functioning.
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and rapidly repair complex electrical faults in chain-making machinery, AC units, and other manufacturing equipment to minimize production downtime.
- Installation & Maintenance: Install, test, and maintain electrical systems, including control panels, switchgear, 33kV substations, and transformers.
- Supervision & Mentoring: Lead, train, and supervise junior electricians, technicians, and helpers.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to local and national electrical codes and company safety regulations (e.g., proper insulation, earthing).
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, inspections, and equipment status.
- Utility Operations: Oversee electrical aspects of heavy yard equipment, such as forklifts, cranes, and diesel generators.
Typical Duties in a Chain Plant
- Monitoring 33kV/LT transformers (checking oil levels, silica gel, voltage).
- Maintaining and repairing electrical components of chain-making machines, heating elements, and hydraulic systems.
- Troubleshooting PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) issues.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: ITI or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: Several years of industrial electrical maintenance experience, ideally in a manufacturing or heavy engineering plant.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, control panels, PLCs, wiring, and high-voltage systems.
- Skills: Ability to read technical blueprints and schematics, strong problem-solving ability, and hands-on repair skills.
