Job Description:
A Shift Incharge (Operations) in a steel company supervises daily production, safety, and quality during a specific shift to ensure targets are met. They manage staff, coordinate with maintenance on equipment breakdowns, monitor production processes (like EAF/CCM), and prepare shift reports to maintain efficiency and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Management: Achieve daily production targets by managing and directing plant staff.
- Process Monitoring: Monitor EAF/CCM (Electric Arc Furnace/Continuous Casting Machine) furnace/plant parameters to maintain quality standards.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Maintenance Coordination: Coordinate with the maintenance team to resolve operational breakdowns and perform preventive maintenance.
- Troubleshooting: Handle operational problems efficiently and resolve emergency issues on the shop floor.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit detailed shift reports on production data, incidents, and equipment status.
- Staff Leadership: Lead, train, and mentor team members, delegating tasks to ensure productivity.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Chemical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5+ years in a steel melting shop (SMS), sponge iron plant, or DRI plant.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of steel manufacturing processes, plant operations, and safety protocols.
- Leadership: Strong team management and decision-making skills.

- SMS (Steel Melting Shop): Managing furnaces and casting.
- Rolling Mill: Operating mills for finished steel products.
- DRI/Sponge Iron: Handling direct reduced iron production.
