Job Description:
An MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Engineer in real estate manages the design, installation, and maintenance of building systems—HVAC, lighting, power, and plumbing—to ensure safety, functionality, and energy efficiency. They coordinate with architects, contractors, and consultants to oversee project execution, technical compliance, and budgeting, typically requiring a Bachelor’s in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering. 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Design & Coordination: Reviewing MEP drawings, conducting load calculations, and coordinating with architectural and structural teams to prevent on-site clashes.
  • Site Supervision & Execution: Monitoring daily site activities to ensure installations (HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting) match specifications.
  • Quality Control & Compliance: Enforcing local building codes, safety standards (e.g., NFPA), and conducting testing/commissioning of equipment.
  • Project Management: Assisting with vendor selection, procurement, and maintaining project documentation (e.g., RFI, site reports).
  • Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving technical issues during construction and during the handover phase. 
     
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: 5+ years in high-rise residential or commercial construction.
  • Technical Tools: Proficiency in AutoCAD and knowledge of Revit MEP/BIM software.
  • Knowledge: Expertise in electrical power distribution, HVAC, plumbing, and firefighting systems. 
     
Common Job Requirements
  • Site inspection and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of local building, safety, and fire regulations.
  • Budget management and vendor management abilities.
