Job Description:
A Hospital Accountant manages the financial operations of a healthcare facility, including patient billing, insurance claims, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, maintaining accurate financial records (ledgers, balance sheets), auditing, and analyzing costs to maintain financial health.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Billing & Receivables: Supervise patient billing, ensure timely invoicing, and manage insurance claim follow-ups.
- Financial Recording: Maintain accurate general ledgers, journal entries, and financial statements (balance sheets, income statements).
- Payroll & Benefits: Process payroll, manage staff compensation, and ensure compliance with statutory deductions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to healthcare financial regulations, tax laws, and audit requirements.
- Budgeting & Reporting: Analyze financial data to prepare budgets, forecasts, and reports on variances.
- Asset Management: Monitor inventory, manage accounts payable to suppliers, and control cash flow.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in healthcare.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (e.g., Quickbooks, SAP).
- Attributes: High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and knowledge of GAAP.
