Job Description:
A Foreman for a Power Plant is a supervisory role responsible for leading crews to maintain, repair, or construct plant equipment, ensuring operational efficiency, and adhering strictly to safety regulations. They act as the liaison between management and on-site workers, overseeing daily operations of specialized systems such as coal handling, ash handling, electrical, or mechanical maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervision & Leadership: Directing crews of mechanics, technicians, or subcontractors to complete daily tasks efficiently.
- Safety Compliance: Enforcing OSHA standards, conducting Tool Box Talks (TBT), and managing Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Operations & Maintenance: Overseeing the maintenance of plant equipment, including conveyors, crushers, ash handling systems, or electrical substations.
- Task Scheduling & Planning: Developing daily work schedules to align with overall project milestones, adjusting for weather, materials, or personnel shortages.
- Resource Management: Ensuring the availability of tools, spares, and machinery, and monitoring maintenance costs.
- Reporting: Regularly updating site engineers and managers on project progress, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining accurate records.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in power plant maintenance, construction, or a related industrial environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of mechanical (hydraulics, pneumatics), electrical (low/medium voltage), or piping systems.
- Leadership & Communication: Strong ability to delegate tasks, mentor team members, and communicate with stakeholders.
- Certifications: Often requires or prefers safety training (OSHA 10/30) and relevant trade certifications (e.g., electrical license).
- Physical Ability: Must be able to work in industrial environments, climb, and lift moderate to heavy loads.
