Job Description:
A Senior AutoCAD Designer for a fabrication plant creates detailed 2D/3D fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and General Arrangement (GA) layouts for manufacturing. They mentor junior staff, ensure technical accuracy, and coordinate with engineering teams to meet industry standards. This role requires over 5+ years of experience, advanced proficiency in AutoCAD/SolidWorks, and strong knowledge of material specifications and production workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabrication Modeling: Develop detailed 3D mechanical/piping models and shop drawings for production.
- Technical Accuracy: Ensure all designs comply with industry codes, standards, and material specifications.
- Coordination: Collaborate with production teams, engineers, and project managers for design optimization.
- Project Leadership: Lead drafting efforts for large-scale projects and mentor junior CAD staff.
- Review and Revisions: Review structural drawings, troubleshoot design issues, and revise shop drawings based on feedback.
- Site Support: Coordinate on-site structural work and verify measurements if necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in AutoCAD within a fabrication, manufacturing, or structural environment.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or related technical field.
- Software Skills: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks).
- Skills: Ability to read blueprints, understand design principles, and strong attention to detail.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Autodesk Plant 3D or similar piping design software.
- Knowledge of structural steel/metal fabrication processes.
