Job Description:
A Commercial DGM/GM in the steel manufacturing sector acts as a senior leader responsible for the end-to-end commercial operations of a plant, overseeing procurement, sales, logistics, accounts, and statutory compliance. This role aims to maximize profitability, manage working capital, and optimize cost efficiency.

- Key Focus: Techno-commercial, Procurement, Sales, Logistics, Inventory control, Vendor management, GST Compliance
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Operations: Manage the entire commercial function including Purchase (Raw Materials/Scrap), Stores & Purchase, and Inventory Control.
- Cost & Finance Management: Monitor and reduce costs to improve unit production cost. Handle budget preparation, and oversee accounts/GST compliance.
- Logistics & Supply Chain: Oversee both internal and external logistics to ensure smooth, cost-effective movement of raw materials and finished steel products.
- Vendor & Contract Management: Lead negotiation with suppliers for raw materials and manage contracts.
- Production Linkage: Coordinate with production planning and sales teams to align manufacturing targets with customer delivery schedules.
- Statutory Compliance & Legal: Manage all regulatory compliance, liaising with government departments, and handle legal aspects of contracting.
- Reporting: Prepare MIS reports, production review reports, and analyze data to guide management decision-making.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: 15-20 years in steel/aluminum/heavy engineering manufacturing.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Civil) or Management (MBA) preferred.
- Knowledge: Expertise in SAP or similar ERP systems, GST/taxes, and inventory management.
- Leadership: Strong negotiation skills, analytical capability, and ability to lead multifunctional teams.
- Strategic Thinking: Capable of long-term planning to achieve top and bottom-line goals.
