Job Description:
A 2nd Class Boiler Operator manages the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of high-pressure boilers and related machinery. Key duties include monitoring gauges (pressure, temperature, water levels), conducting maintenance, water treatment, fuel feeding, and maintaining safety records, typically requiring a 2nd Class Certificate.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Operational Management: Start up, operate, and shut down boilers and auxiliary equipment (pumps, fans, compressors) following standard procedures.
- Monitoring & Control: Monitor DCS/PLC-based systems, checking steam pressure, temperature, and water levels to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintenance & Cleaning: Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, removing ash/clinker, and cleaning air lines (P.A. lines).
- Safety & Compliance: Inspect safety devices daily, troubleshoot malfunctions, and ensure compliance with IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations) and safety standards.
- Water Treatment: Test boiler water and adjust chemical treatments to prevent corrosion or scaling.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate boiler logs and shift records
Job Requirements & Qualifications
- Certification: Valid 2nd Class Boiler Operator/Attendant Certificate.
- Experience: Generally 5-7 years of experience operating industrial boilers, including AFBC (Atmospheric Fluidized Bed Combustion) or biomass boilers.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of boiler mountings, valves, and water treatment
- Physical Ability: Ability to work shifts and manage physically demanding environments
