Job Description:
An Auction Executive in a steel manufacturing firm is responsible for managing the end-to-end process of selling products, scrap, or byproducts through competitive bidding, ensuring maximum price realization and efficient, compliant, and timely transactions. 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Auction Planning & Strategy: Set up and manage auctions for industrial steel scrap (ferrous/non-ferrous), byproducts (slag, dust), or secondary steel. Develop marketing strategies for auction events.
  • Platform Management: Conduct online or live auctions, acting as the liaison between the company and bidders, often using e-commerce or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Google Cloud).
  • Lead Generation & Relationship Management: Identify, build, and maintain long-term relationships with scrap yards, recyclers, and other buyers.
  • Negotiation & Closing: Negotiate terms of sale with the highest bidders and ensure contractual compliance.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor global and local steel scrap market trends, competitor pricing, and demand-supply fluctuations.
  • Documentation & Logistics: Coordinate documentation, including invoicing, and liaison with internal teams for logistics and prompt dispatch of auctioned items.
  • Performance Reporting: Prepare sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and Management Information Systems (MIS) reports for senior management. 
     
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience, ideally in steel manufacturing or trading, with specific knowledge of scrap sales or e-auction platforms.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of steel products, metallurgical byproducts, and the supply chain.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Communication & Negotiation: Excellent interpersonal skills for high-stakes negotiation with buyers.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze market trends and maximize net realization from sales. 
     
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Achieving sales revenue and volume targets.
  • Maximizing net realization from scrap sales.
  • Reducing inventory dwell time.
  • Expanding the buyer base. 
    This role is frequently found in industrial hubs like Raipur, Chhattisgarh, in firms specializing in iron, steel, and alloy production.
