Job Description:
A Production Welder for chain manufacturing fabricates and assembles metal chain links using industrial welding equipment. They operate machinery, interpret blueprints, and ensure all chain welds meet strength, durability, and safety standards for heavy-duty industrial applications. [1, 2]
Core Responsibilities
- Equipment Operation: Operate manual and semi-automatic welding machines (MIG, TIG, ARC, or automated welding stations) to join metal chain links. [1, 2]
- Blueprint Reading: Interpret technical drawings and welding symbols to determine precise dimensions and structural requirements. [1, 2]
- Material Preparation: Cut, shape, and smooth raw metal stock using saws and grinders prior to the welding process. [1, 2]
- Quality Assurance: Inspect welded chain joints for defects (e.g., cracks, incomplete penetration) to ensure high tensile strength and structural integrity. [1, 2, 3, 4]
- Production Targets: Follow daily production schedules and adjust welding parameters to optimize efficiency. [1, 2]
- Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean workspace and adhere to strict occupational health and safety (OH&S) guidelines, including the use of PPE. [1, 2]
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Hands-on industrial welding and steel fabrication experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in blueprint interpretation, measuring tools (calipers/rulers), and hand/power tool operation.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy raw materials.
