Job Description:
An Accountant Manager for a jewelry shop oversees daily financial operations, inventory valuation (gold/diamonds), and tax compliance, typically requiring 2–7+ years of experience and proficiency in Tally or ERP software. They ensure accurate stock tracking, prepare financial reports (P&L, balance sheets), manage billing, and reconcile high-value transactions. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory & Costing Management: Maintain precise records of raw materials (gold, silver, precious stones) and finished products, managing valuation based on fluctuating market rates.
- Financial Reporting & Bookkeeping: Record daily transactions, manage accounts payable/receivable, and prepare monthly/annual P&L statements, cash flow analyses, and balance sheets.
- Compliance & Taxation: Ensure strict adherence to industry regulations, including GST/tax filings and coordinating audits.
- Cash & Asset Control: Verify daily sales, cash collections, and bank statement reconciliations to prevent theft or shrinkage.
- Systems Management: Utilize MS Excel for advanced reporting and integrate software with POS systems to automate inventory valuation.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 5-10 years of specialized experience in jewelry retail or manufacturing, often with a preference for local industry knowledge.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in TallyPrime, QuickBooks, and advanced Excel (macros, Power Query).
- Attention to Detail: High vigilance required for managing high-value inventory and identifying discrepancies.
