Job Description:
A Security Gate Incharge for a steel pipes manufacturing unit is responsible for overseeing the 24/7 security operations at the entry/exit points, ensuring the protection of heavy machinery, raw materials (steel coils/plates), finished products, and personnel. This role involves managing security staff, strict material movement control, visitor management, and emergency response.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. Access Control & Gate Management
- Material Movement Control: Strict monitoring and documentation of incoming raw materials (steel coils, consumables) and outgoing finished steel pipes to prevent theft or unauthorized movement.
- Vehicle & Personnel Management: Verifying IDs for employees, visitors, and vendors. Maintaining meticulous logs of gate passes and vehicle movements.
- Security Checks: Ensuring all vehicles and individuals are searched to prevent unauthorized materials from entering or exiting the plant.
2. Team Supervision & Operation
- Guard Force Management: Supervising, scheduling, and training security guards and contract staff. Ensuring they are alert, well-behaved, and properly dressed.
- Shift Operations: Managing 24/7 shift duties, ensuring no entry point is unattended.
- Monitoring & Patrolling: Managing CCTVs, alarms, and directing periodic patrolling of the plant perimeter, raw material yard, and warehouse.
3. Safety & Emergency Management
- Emergency Response: Acting as the first responder during emergencies such as fires, accidents, labor unrest, or theft attempts.
- Safety Compliance: Ensuring all vehicles entering the plant comply with safety guidelines (e.g., proper lighting, safety gear for drivers).
4. Reporting & Documentation
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate visitor registers, material gate passes, security incident reports, and daily activity logs.
- Incident Reporting: Reporting to the senior security manager regarding any breach, theft, or unusual activity.
Requirements
- Experience: 2–3 years of industrial security experience, preferably in a steel, pipe manufacturing, or heavy machinery industry.
- Background: Ex-Servicemen (Army, Navy, or Police) are generally preferred.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and basic computer knowledge (for digital gate entry).
- Knowledge: Understanding of surveillance systems (CCTV) and industrial access protocols.

- Zero Theft/Pilferage: Ensuring zero loss of raw materials or finished products.
- Unauthorized Access Prevention: Zero incidents of unauthorized persons on site.
