Civil Project Engineer- South Mumbai

Job Description:

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Project Engineer – Civil to lead day-to-day execution at our prestigious South Mumbai construction site. This is a high-visibility, on-site role responsible for ensuring that all civil works progress on schedule, conform to approved drawings and specifications, and meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

The incumbent will work closely with the Project Manager, RCC consultants, architects, contractors, and on-site supervisory teams to drive seamless execution, optimal resource utilisation, and adherence to ISO and statutory norms throughout the project lifecycle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Planning & Scheduling

• Develop comprehensive project execution schedules, outlining key milestones, deliverables and deadlines in coordination with the Project Manager.
• Study the work plan submitted by contractors, validate sequencing of activities, and ensure execution proceeds in line with approved schedules.
• Monitor timely progress of all civil works and proactively flag delays or bottlenecks for resolution.

Site Execution & Quality Control

• Supervise day-to-day site works in accordance with contract documents and procedures established by the consultant.
• Oversee inspection and execution of RCC works using both Conventional and MIVAN (aluminium) formwork systems, including all finishing works.
• Check formwork, Bar Bending Schedule (BBS), reinforcement, and concrete quality against drawings and design before clearance.
• Prepare pre-casting checklists for all RCC members and ensure sign-offs are obtained prior to concreting.
• Maintain quality of all civil work and ensure strict conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and safety standards.

Drawings, Quantities & Technical Coordination

• Work out quantities of work from architectural and RCC drawings; prepare BBS as per RCC drawings and BOQ of materials.
• Study architectural and structural drawings in depth and explain the same to Junior Engineers, piece-rate workers, contractors, foremen and supervisors.
• Coordinate with RCC consultants, architects, MEP teams and other external agencies to maintain quality and schedule of the project.
• Communicate all necessary technical instructions clearly to foremen, supervisors and departmental labour.

Material Management

• Prepare advance requisitions for various materials based on schedule and consumption forecasts.
• Track daily consumption with support from the storekeeper and supervisor and identify defective material instances.
• Maintain a strong understanding of material specifications, market rates and procurement timelines.

Documentation, Billing & Compliance

• Prepare daily progress reports, monthly consumption reports and defective material reports with proper inputs from the storekeeper and supervisor.
• Assist the Project Manager in preparing contractor invoices and highlight upcoming material requirements.
• Check and verify RA (Running Account) bills of contractors against actual work executed and approved rates.
• Maintain all ISO procedures and project documentation as per the company's QMS framework.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Educational Qualification

• E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering from a recognised university (full-time, regular degree).

Experience

• Minimum 8 years of relevant on-site experience with reputed builders / construction companies, preferably on high-rise residential or commercial projects.
• Hands-on experience with both Conventional and MIVAN formwork systems is essential.
• Prior experience on projects in Mumbai (especially South Mumbai / island city) will be an added advantage.

Technical Skills

• Thorough knowledge of building bye-laws, IS codes, material specifications and prevailing market costing.
• Strong ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and MEP drawings.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office; working knowledge of MS Project / Primavera preferred.
• Sound understanding of QA/QC protocols, safety standards and ISO documentation.
