PUMP OPERATOR FERRO ALLOYS FOR STEEL MANUFACTURING - RAIPUR , CHHATTISGARH
Job Description:
- Operation & Monitoring: Operate high-pressure, submersible, or centrifugal pumps to manage water supply and cooling systems for Submerged Arc Furnaces (SAF) and other machinery.
- System Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on pumps, including overhauling valves, changing seals, and replacing impellers, often requiring experience in VT or HSC pumps.
- Process Efficiency: Monitor and adjust flow rates, pressures, and tank levels to meet operational requirements.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all machinery operates according to industrial safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly.
- Troubleshooting: Identify abnormalities, such as unusual noise, leaks, or pressure drops, and coordinate with the mechanical maintenance team for repairs.
- Record Keeping: Maintain logbooks for pump performance, water levels, chemical dosing, and maintenance activities, often tracking data through [SAP/ERP] systems. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
- Education: ITI in Fitter/Mechanical or equivalent trade.
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in a steel, sponge iron, or ferro alloys plant, with specific experience in pump operation or water treatment systems preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of piping systems, motor controls, valves, and mechanical seals.
- Shift Work: Willingness to work in 12-hour rotating shifts (day/night). [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
- Location: Ferro Alloys Unit, Steel Melting Shop, or Water Treatment Plant.
- Physical Demand: Moderate; involves walking, monitoring large equipment, and manual handling of tools.
