Job Description:
An Assistant Accountant in a steel manufacturing firm manages daily financial transactions, including inventory tracking, supplier payments, and GST/TDS compliance using Tally or ERP software. Key duties include reconciling bank accounts, supporting payroll, maintaining purchase/sales records, and assisting with month-end financial reporting in industrial settings. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Core Responsibilities
- Bookkeeping: Maintain daily accounts (purchase, sales, receipts, payments) and manage ledger accounts.
- Inventory & Costing: Track raw materials, Work-in-Progress (WIP), and finished goods to reconcile physical inventory with system records.
- Compliance & Tax: Prepare and file GST (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B) and TDS, ensuring correct HSN codes for steel products.
- Reconciliation & Payment: Perform bank reconciliations, vendor ledger reconciliations, and handle outstanding payments.
- Documentation: Handle E-way bills, invoices, delivery challans, and assist senior accountants with audits. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (B.Com) or accounting certification.
- Experience: 1–3 years of accounting experience, specifically within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Tally Prime or similar ERP software (like SAP or Busy) and Microsoft Excel.
- Industry Knowledge: Basic understanding of steel manufacturing processes, inventory, and cost auditing
