Job Description:
A Planning Executive in a tower manufacturing company (such as telecom or transmission towers) bridges sales orders, material availability, and shop floor production. They develop master production schedules, coordinate raw material procurement, and track project timelines to ensure on-time delivery while minimizing downtime and maximizing facility capacity. Core Responsibilities
- Production Scheduling: Develop and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) for tower fabrication, galvanizing, and assembly based on client requirements and factory capacities.
- Material & Inventory Planning: Forecast and track raw materials (e.g., structural steel, angles, plates) and consumables. Manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock.
- Vendor & Procurement Coordination: Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of steel and components. Participate in vendor negotiations and supplier capability reviews.
- Project Tracking & Progress: Track manufacturing milestones against project baselines. Coordinate with engineers, shop floor supervisors, and logistics teams to ensure smooth workflows and timely shipments.
- Resource & Capacity Management: Assess equipment capacities and schedule labor or shifts to meet fluctuating market demands while staying within budget constraints.
- Quality & Continuous Improvement: Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) like production efficiency, on-time delivery, and lead-time reduction. Implement lean manufacturing principles to resolve bottlenecks and reduce waste.
- Reporting: Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for upper management to highlight potential delays or deviations from the schedule. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Civil, or Production Engineering, or a related field.
- Technical Software: Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (like SAP or Oracle), inventory management software, and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Analytical Thinking: Strong mathematical and analytical abilities for demand forecasting, capacity calculations, and resource planning.
