Job Description:
A Logistics Project Manager oversees complex supply chain initiatives, from warehouse optimization to global transportation. They are responsible for defining project scopes, managing budgets, mitigating risks, and coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure goods and services are delivered efficiently and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Execution: Plan, direct, and monitor logistics projects (e.g., new facility setups, supply chain software integrations, or fleet expansion) from initiation to closing.
- Vendor Management: Source third-party logistics (3PL) providers, negotiate contracts, and manage service level agreements (SLAs).
- Budget & Resource Planning: Develop project budgets, track expenditures, and optimize resource allocation to maximize return on investment (ROI).
- Risk Mitigation: Identify potential supply chain disruptions and implement contingency plans to maintain operational continuity.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the central point of contact between operations, procurement, IT, and external stakeholders.
- Process Improvement: Apply methodologies (like Six Sigma or Agile) to streamline workflows, reduce costs, and elevate delivery performance.
Core Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 10–15 years of proven experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain project management.
- Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) designations are highly preferred by employers.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and Microsoft Office/project scheduling tools.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, excellent negotiation skills, and proven leadership in change management.
