Role & Responsibilities

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Lead Tekla Modeler with strong expertise in US structural steel detailing and 3D modeling. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in Tekla Structures (XSteel) and/or SDS/2, with the ability to independently manage structural steel detailing projects while leading a team of modelers to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery.

The candidate should possess strong technical expertise in structural steel detailing for US-based projects, along with leadership capabilities to mentor, review, and coordinate the work of the modeling team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently develop, review, and maintain accurate 3D structural steel models using Tekla Structures / XSteel and/or SDS/2
  • Lead and manage a team of Tekla modelers/detailers for project execution
  • Allocate work, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to project timelines
  • Review team deliverables for quality, accuracy, and compliance with project standards
  • Prepare and oversee creation of:
    • Shop drawings
    • Fabrication drawings
    • Assembly drawings
    • Erection drawings
    • General Arrangement (GA) drawings
    • Anchor bolt plans
    • Material take-offs / BOM
  • Model and detail:
    • Structural steel members
    • Connections
    • Miscellaneous steel
    • Stairs
    • Handrails
    • Ladders
    • Platforms
    • Gratings
    • Embed plates
  • Interpret structural, architectural, and IFC drawings along with project specifications
  • Ensure detailing compliance with US structural steel standards and fabrication practices
  • Coordinate with project managers, structural engineers, fabricators, connection design teams, and internal stakeholders
  • Handle RFIs, revisions, customer markups, and design changes efficiently
  • Support fabrication teams with technical clarifications
  • Conduct model coordination and clash checks
  • Generate fabrication outputs including CNC / NC files where required
  • Drive productivity, quality control, and process adherence within the team
  • Mentor junior modelers and support technical problem-solving

 

Preferred candidate profile


Required Technical Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience in:
    • Tekla Structures / Tekla XSteel
    • SDS/2 (preferred)
  • Proven expertise in US structural steel detailing
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • AISC standards
    • AWS codes
    • OSHA requirements
    • ASTM specifications
    • US steel fabrication and erection practices
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Structural steel connections
    • Miscellaneous steel detailing
    • Fabrication workflows
    • Erection sequencing
    • Model review and checking

Educational Qualification:

Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Civil / Structural / Mechanical Engineering
