SHIFT INCHARGE ROLLING MILL FOR STEEL MANUFACTURING - RAIGARH , CHHATTISGARH

Job Description:

The Electrical Shift Incharge – Rolling Mill is responsible for ensuring smooth, safe, and uninterrupted electrical operations of the rolling mill during the assigned shift. The role involves supervising electrical maintenance activities, troubleshooting breakdowns, coordinating with production teams, and ensuring maximum equipment availability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Shift Operations & Maintenance

• Ensure smooth operation of all electrical systems in the rolling mill during shift.
• Attend breakdowns of motors, drives, PLC systems, MCCs, VFDs, and control panels.
• Minimize downtime through quick fault diagnosis and corrective actions.

2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

• Execute preventive maintenance schedules for electrical equipment.
• Monitor condition of motors, cables, transformers, sensors, and automation systems.
• Maintain maintenance records and logbooks.

3. Troubleshooting & Repairs

• Diagnose faults in PLC-based automation systems and drive systems.
• Handle emergency breakdowns efficiently to restore production.
• Coordinate with instrumentation and mechanical teams when required.

4. Team Supervision

• Supervise electricians and technicians during shift.
• Assign tasks and ensure safe execution of work.
• Provide technical guidance to shift team members.

5. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to electrical safety standards and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Maintain compliance with plant safety rules and statutory regulations.
• Promote safe working practices in high-voltage environments.

6. Coordination & Reporting

• Coordinate with production and maintenance departments for smooth operations.
• Prepare shift reports, breakdown reports, and maintenance logs.
• Report critical issues to senior engineers/management.

Key Technical Skills Required:

• Strong knowledge of AC/DC motors, VFDs, PLCs (Siemens/Allen Bradley), MCC panels
• Understanding of rolling mill drives and automation systems
• Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics
• Knowledge of hydraulics and mechanical basics (preferred)

Qualifications:

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering
• 5-8 years of experience in steel plant / rolling mill maintenance
