Job Description:
A Senior Electrician in a steel rolling mill ensures the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of heavy-duty mill equipment. They specialize in installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining medium/high-voltage systems, AC/DC drives, motors, and PLCs, minimizing downtime during the steel manufacturing process. [1, 2]
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance on heavy-duty mill motors, transformers, HT/LT panels, and switchboards.
  • Drive & Control Systems: Troubleshoot and calibrate AC/DC drives, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), and HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces).
  • Downtime Minimization: Conduct rapid root-cause analysis during electrical failures to quickly resume production.
  • Equipment Installation: Assist in the erection, installation, and commissioning of new electrical panels and machinery.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce electrical safety standards (e.g., LOTO procedures) and ensure compliance with local and state industrial regulations.
  • Shift Operations: Manage shift-based electrical operations and coordinate with mechanical and production teams. [1, 2, 3]
Essential Requirements
  • Education: ITI (Electrical), Diploma, or B.E./B.Tech in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
  • Experience: 5 to 15+ years of hands-on industrial experience in steel manufacturing, specifically in hot or cold rolling mills.
  • Core Skills: Ability to read complex technical blueprints and schematics, and deep familiarity with medium/high voltage equipment. [1, 2]
