A Production/Plant Manager for a Ferro Vanadium manufacturing plant directs smelting operations, raw material processing (such as vanadium pentoxide reduction), and furnace parameters. Key priorities include minimizing specific power consumption, optimizing alloy recovery, ensuring strict quality benchmarks, and maintaining zero-accident safety compliance. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Key Responsibilities
  • Furnace & Smelting Operations: Oversee Submerged Arc Furnace (SAF) or aluminothermic reduction chamber operations. Manage tapping procedures, electrode management, and furnace health to maintain continuous, uninterrupted production.
  • Charge Burden Calculations: Implement stoichiometry-based batching and charge mix formulations using raw materials like vanadium pentoxide, iron oxides, and reducing agents (e.g., aluminum/ferrosilicon).
  • Process Optimization: Monitor and control power consumption, power factors, and arching zones. Maximize the vanadium recovery rate while minimizing slag loss and alloy powdering.
  • Quality Control (QC): Ensure the final Ferro Vanadium product meets tight metallurgical specifications (e.g., controlling carbon, silicon, and aluminum impurities).
  • Maintenance & Reliability: Coordinate with mechanical and electrical teams to execute preventive maintenance programs, minimizing unscheduled breakdowns and taphole repairs.
  • Safety & Compliance (EHS): Enforce strict safety protocols, especially regarding molten metal, heat management, and emission control. Ensure effluent and solid waste management adhere to state and national environmental regulations. [1, 3, 4, 5]
Preferred Qualifications
