PURCHASE OFFICER FOR SINTER PLANT - BOBILI , BHUTAN
Job Description:
A Purchase Officer for a sinter plant manages the procurement of raw materials (iron ore fines, coke breeze, limestone), industrial consumables, and equipment spares. Their core objective is to minimize costs, ensure timely deliveries, and maintain optimal inventory levels to prevent any halts in the sintering production process. [1, 2]
Key Responsibilities
- Material Sourcing & Procurement: Acquire essential raw materials and specialized plant spares (e.g., refractories, conveyor belts, pug mill parts) required for sinter production.
- Vendor Development: Identify, evaluate, and maintain a network of reliable suppliers for iron ore, coal, and fluxes.
- Cost Optimization: Negotiate contract terms, pricing, and freight costs to maximize ROI and stay within operational budgets.
- Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels of raw materials and spare parts to avoid shortages while preventing capital lock-up.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality control and technical teams to ensure all incoming materials strictly meet the required technical specifications. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Essential Requirements
- Education: Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Metallurgical) or Supply Chain Management.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of heavy industry processes (sintering, blast furnace) and technical terminology regarding raw materials like iron ore and coal.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems, specifically SAP MM/SRM, along with advanced data analysis for reporting.
