Job Description:
Role Summary
The Production Supervisor will lead a shift team of operators and helpers across the molded-fiber forming, pressing, and finishing lines. The role owns shift-level output, quality, manpower deployment, and adherence to SOPs. The supervisor is the first line of escalation on the shop floor and works closely with Quality, Maintenance, and Stores.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan manpower deployment for the shift based on the daily production plan and machine availability.
- Achieve shift-wise targets on output, yield, OEE, and first-pass quality.
- Monitor process parameters (pulp consistency, mould temperature, pressing time, drying profile) and intervene when deviations occur.
- Conduct toolbox talks, ensure PPE compliance, and enforce safety and 5S standards on the floor.
- Coordinate with maintenance on breakdowns and with quality on in-process rejections.
- Maintain shift logs, production reports, downtime analysis, and handover documentation.
- Train, coach, and appraise operators; manage attendance, leaves, and shift rosters.
- Drive small Kaizen and waste-reduction initiatives within the shift.
- Ensure raw material and consumable availability at the line before shift start.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Chemical Engineering or equivalent; B.E./B.Tech preferred.
- 3–5 years of supervisory experience in molded fiber, pulp & paper, packaging, or similar process industries.
- Hands-on understanding of pulp preparation, forming, hot-pressing, and finishing operations.
- Familiarity with OEE, downtime tracking, and basic Lean tools (5S, Kaizen, SMED).
- Strong people-handling, conflict resolution, and shop-floor communication skills.
- Comfortable working in rotating shifts.
