Job Description:

The AVP – Human Resources will be responsible for leading and managing the entire HR function across India for a rapidly growing broadband and telecommunications organization. This role will serve as a strategic business partner to the leadership team while ensuring operational excellence across all HR domains.

The incumbent will be accountable for designing, implementing, and driving HR strategies, policies, processes, and people initiatives that support business growth, operational efficiency, employee engagement, talent development, and organizational effectiveness across corporate offices, regional offices, sales teams, customer support functions, field operations, and technical teams.

The role carries end-to-end ownership of all HR functions and will lead a geographically dispersed workforce across multiple locations in India.


Key Responsibilities

1. HR Strategy & Business Partnering

  • Develop and execute the organization's HR strategy aligned with business objectives and growth plans.
  • Partner with senior leadership to drive organizational effectiveness and workforce planning.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders on people-related matters.
  • Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, customer-centricity, innovation, and execution excellence.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, expansions, and transformation initiatives as required.

2. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Lead nationwide recruitment strategy for corporate, sales, operations, technical, customer support, and leadership positions.
  • Develop manpower planning processes aligned with business growth targets.
  • Build employer branding initiatives to attract top talent.
  • Ensure timely closure of positions while maintaining quality of hire.
  • Establish recruitment metrics and drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage recruitment partners, consultants, and sourcing channels.

3. Performance Management

  • Design and drive performance management frameworks and KPI systems.
  • Implement goal-setting and performance review processes across functions.
  • Support leadership in succession planning and talent reviews.
  • Identify high-potential employees and develop retention strategies.
  • Drive performance improvement programs and leadership effectiveness initiatives.

4. Compensation, Benefits & Rewards

  • Develop and manage compensation structures, incentive programs, sales commission plans, and benefits policies.
  • Conduct compensation benchmarking and market analysis.
  • Ensure internal equity and external competitiveness.
  • Manage annual salary reviews, promotions, and bonus cycles.
  • Drive employee recognition and rewards programs.

5. Learning & Development

  • Create organization-wide learning and capability-building strategies.
  • Design leadership development programs.
  • Identify competency gaps and implement development interventions.
  • Drive onboarding, technical training, managerial training, and behavioral development initiatives.
  • Build internal talent pipelines for critical positions.

6. Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Foster a positive employee experience across all locations.
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives and culture-building programs.
  • Handle employee grievances, disciplinary matters, and conflict resolution.
  • Drive retention and employee satisfaction programs.
  • Conduct employee surveys and implement action plans.

7. HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle Management

  • Ensure seamless execution of the employee lifecycle from hiring to separation.
  • Standardize HR policies, processes, and SOPs across India.
  • Oversee employee documentation, HR records, and HRMS administration.
  • Drive process automation and digital HR initiatives.
  • Ensure operational excellence and service delivery standards.

8. Compliance & Statutory Management

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws and statutory requirements.
  • Oversee compliance related to:
    • Shops & Establishments Act
    • Labour Codes
    • Provident Fund (PF)
    • Employee State Insurance (ESI)
    • Gratuity
    • Bonus
    • POSH
    • Contract Labour Regulations
    • Payroll and taxation-related requirements
  • Coordinate internal and external compliance audits.
  • Minimize legal and compliance risks.

9. Payroll & HR Administration

  • Oversee payroll processing and employee benefits administration.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance in salary processing.
  • Manage vendor relationships related to payroll and benefits.
  • Drive process efficiency and controls.

10. Organizational Development & Change Management

  • Lead organizational design and restructuring initiatives.
  • Drive culture transformation programs.
  • Support business expansion and workforce scaling.
  • Implement change management frameworks for organizational growth.
  • Establish leadership and succession planning programs.

11. HR Analytics & Reporting

  • Develop HR dashboards and MIS reports.
  • Monitor key HR metrics including:
    • Attrition
    • Hiring effectiveness
    • Time-to-fill
    • Employee engagement
    • Productivity
    • Diversity metrics
    • Training effectiveness
  • Use data-driven insights for strategic decision-making.

12. Team Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing HR team.
  • Establish clear goals and accountability frameworks.
  • Develop future HR leaders within the organization.
  • Ensure strong collaboration across regional HR teams.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education

  • MBA / PGDM in Human Resources from a reputed institution.
  • Additional certifications in HR, Labor Laws, OD, Compensation, or Leadership Development preferred.

Experience

  • 12–18+ years of progressive HR experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in a senior HR leadership role.
  • Experience managing multi-location and pan-India HR operations.
  • Prior experience in Telecom, Broadband, ISP, Technology, Infrastructure, Retail, Consumer Services, or a large distributed workforce environment preferred.
