Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Executive Microbiologist / Junior Microbiologist to join our Microbiology team. The role involves conducting microbiological testing, maintaining laboratory operations, supporting quality assurance activities, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in microbiological analysis, laboratory documentation, environmental monitoring, and quality control processes.

Key Responsibilities

Microbiological Testing & Analysis

  • Perform routine microbiological testing of raw materials, finished products, water samples, and environmental samples.
  • Conduct microbial enumeration, pathogen testing, and contamination assessments as per approved procedures.
  • Use aseptic techniques for culturing, isolation, and identification of microorganisms.
  • Monitor physiological and morphological characteristics to identify microbial strains.

Laboratory Operations

  • Operate, maintain, and monitor laboratory equipment such as:
    • Autoclaves
    • Incubators
    • Microscopes
    • Laminar Air Flow (LAF) Units
    • Biological Safety Cabinets (BSC)
  • Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
  • Support validation and qualification activities of equipment and testing methods.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Record and document test results accurately.
  • Prepare analysis reports and maintain laboratory records as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure compliance with GLP, GMP, ISO, and other applicable quality standards.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and support inspection activities.

Quality Control & Environmental Monitoring

  • Assist in routine quality control testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring of production and controlled areas, including:
    • Air quality monitoring
    • Surface monitoring
    • Personnel hygiene monitoring
  • Investigate deviations and support corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities.

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Follow laboratory safety, biosafety, and hygiene protocols.
  • Handle, store, and dispose of biohazardous materials in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance, Production, Research & Development, and other departments.
  • Support senior microbiologists and supervisors in investigations, validation studies, and special projects.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • M.Sc. in Microbiology or Biotechnology.
  • 1–2 years of experience in microbiology testing, quality control, or laboratory operations.
  • Knowledge of microbiological techniques, aseptic handling, and environmental monitoring.
  • Familiarity with GLP, GMP, ISO standards, and laboratory documentation practices.
  • Hands-on experience with microbiological laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Strong analytical, observational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good documentation and reporting abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and quality-driven environment.
