Job Description: Senior Manager / Assistant Director – Engineering Projects & Contract Management

Primary Objective
The primary goal of this role is to spearhead end-to-end engineering project management, infrastructure execution, and technical contract administration. The position ensures that the campus infrastructure meets world-class standards by delivering highly sustained, safe, energy-efficient, and structurally sound engineering solutions (primarily Electrical and Mechanical, with supporting Civil infrastructure) to support the organization’s long-term vision.
Key Functions & Responsibilities
- Capital Projects & Engineering Execution
- Project Life-Cycle Management: Plan, execute, and deliver upcoming greenfield and brownfield CAPEX projects from concept to final handover, aligning closely with corporate goals.
- Multi-Disciplinary Oversight: Direct high-value technical installations focusing heavily on Electrical (Substations, Captive DGs, UPSs, Solar, HT/LT panels) and Mechanical/HVAC systems, along with associated Civil/PEB
- Design & Optimization: Collaborate with internal Heads of Departments (HoDs), Project Consultants, and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to review layouts, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
- Contract & Vendor Management
- End-to-End Contracting: Manage the entire contract lifecycle, including drafting scope of work (SoW), floating RFPs, evaluating technical bids, and formalizing Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Strategic Procurement: Partner with the internal procurement committee to source, negotiate, and onboard specialized engineering vendors and OEMs, leveraging high-stakes negotiation skills to optimize costs.
- Performance Auditing: Closely monitor vendor adherence to SLAs, track project milestones, and govern the payment verification and approval pipeline.
- Technical Asset Maintenance & Infrastructure
- Core Engineering Operations: Oversee the operational efficiency, preventative maintenance, and lifecycle management of critical plant engineering, including HVAC, WTP/STP, Water Hydrants, and Fire Alarm systems.
- Budgetary Controls: Formulate, track, and adhere to strict annual OPEX and CAPEX budgets for engineering operations, annual maintenance contracts (AMCs), and statutory structural upgrades.
- Government Liaisoning & Regulatory Compliance
- Statutory Navigation: Maintain cordial relationships and interface directly with government bodies and regulatory officials including KPTCL, BESCOM, CEIG, and PCB.
- Audit Readiness: Ensure all engineering certifications, environmental clearances, and electrical safety documents are meticulously updated, maintained, and audit-ready.
- EHS Leadership: Enforce rigorous Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations across all project sites and operating machinery to guarantee zero-accident execution.
- Client & Stakeholder Management
- Technical Consulting: Act as the primary technical point of contact during global client-facing reviews to present infrastructure capabilities and execute specific client-driven engineering requirements.
Qualifications & Experience Profiles
Education & Certifications
- Degree:E. / B.Tech or Diploma in Engineering (Electrical & Electronics Engineering preferred, Mechanical or Civil Engineering considered).
- Advantageous Certifications: Professional project management certifications (PMP, PRINCE2) or Certified Facility Manager (IFMA CFM).
- Value-Add Certifications: Certified professional in Integrated Management Systems (IMS), Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S), or EHS frameworks.
Experience & Background
- Total Experience: 10 to 20 years of robust experience heavily focused on the technical/engineering side (80%) versus general facility support (20%).
- Project Expertise: Proven track record in executing Greenfield projects and managing large-scale CAPEX budgets.
- Age Bracket (Preferred): 36 to 45 years.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English, Kannada, and Hindi is essential for smooth local liaisoning and corporate presentations.
