Job Description:
The E&I Junior Engineer/Electrician maintains, calibrates, and repairs electrical and instrumentation systems in the power plant. This role ensures maximum plant availability, reliability, and safety by executing preventive and corrective maintenance. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Systems Maintenance
  • Maintain HT/LT motors, transformers, switchgears, and PMCC/MCC panels.
  • Troubleshoot plant lighting, DC battery banks, and UPS systems.
  • Execute circuit breaker testing, insulation resistance checks, and earth pit testing.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematic drawings and single-line diagrams (SLDs). [1]
Instrumentation & Control Systems
  • Calibrate and service pressure, temperature, level, and flow transmitters.
  • Maintain control valves, motorized actuators, and pneumatic systems.
  • Assist in troubleshooting Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
  • Inspect and maintain continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS) and vibration probes. [1, 2]
Operations & Safety Compliance
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) schedules to minimize breakdown time.
  • Issue and close Permits to Work (PTW) following strict Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols.
  • Respond to emergency breakdown calls to restore plant operations swiftly.
  • Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities, calibration reports, and spare parts inventory. [1]
Qualifications and Skills
Education & Experience
  • For Electrician: ITI / Diploma in Electrical Engineering with 2–5 years of power plant experience.
  • For Junior Engineer: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical / Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering with 1–3 years of experience.
  • Valid Electrical Supervisor or Wireman License (preferred). [1, 2, 3, 4]
Technical Skills
  • Hands-on experience with multi-meters, megghers, calibrators, and loop testers.
  • Basic understanding of power plant cycles (thermal, hydro, or gas) and interlocking logic.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus). [1]
Soft Skills
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting mindset.
  • Ability to work in shifts and under pressure during plant shutdowns.
  • Clear communication skills for team coordination.
