Job Description:
An Electrician for a steel company installs, maintains, and repairs high- and low-voltage industrial equipment like cranes, furnaces, and motors. They troubleshoot breakdowns, handle control panels, and ensure strict safety compliance to minimize production downtime. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Repair: Perform routine preventive maintenance and rapid breakdown repairs on HT/LT panels, transformers, and switchgears.
- Equipment Troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix electrical faults in heavy machinery such as overhead EOT cranes, induction/arc furnaces, and motor control centers. [1, 2]
- Installation: Install, test, and commission new electrical infrastructure, including heavy-duty cables, wiring, and conduit systems. [1, 2, 3]
- Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to industrial safety regulations, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and earthing checks. [1, 2, 3]
- Automation & Control: Maintain and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLC), AC/DC drives, and process control sensors. [1, 2]
- Documentation: Maintain daily maintenance logbooks and prepare material indents for necessary spare parts.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: ITI or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: Typically 2 to 7 years in heavy industrial environments (e.g., Steel Melting Shop or manufacturing facilities). [1, 2]
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of industrial power systems, reading technical schematics, and using electrical testing equipment. [1]
- Physical & Environmental Demands: Ability to work in challenging, high-temperature, and high-noise environments, often requiring shift rotations. [1]
