Job Description:
An accountant in a wire manufacturing facility manages end-to-end financial operations, raw material costing, and inventory valuation. Core duties include tracking production costs, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with local tax regulations like GST and TDS. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Key Responsibilities
Cost & Inventory Management
- Material Costing: Track the procurement costs of raw materials (copper rods, aluminum, steel) and accurately determine the cost to produce finished wire products. [1, 2]
- Inventory Valuation: Monitor Raw Materials (RM), Work-in-Progress (WIP), and Finished Goods (FG) inventories to prevent stock discrepancies. [1]
- Scrap Reconciliation: Account for wire scrap, off-cuts, and metal loss during the drawing and extrusion processes. [1, 2]
Financial Operations & Bookkeeping
- General Ledger: Record daily financial transactions and maintain accurate ledgers using accounting software like Tally Prime or Busy.
- Billing & Payroll: Generate sales/purchase invoices, manage GRN (Goods Received Note) matching, and process factory payroll.
- Reconciliation: Perform daily or weekly bank and vendor reconciliations to maintain optimal cash flow. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
Taxation & Statutory Compliance
- Indirect Taxes: Ensure accurate calculation and filing of GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B).
- Direct Taxes: Manage TDS deductions on vendor payments and employee salaries.
- Statutory Audits: Assist external auditors during annual audits and ensure compliance with regulatory and ISO standards. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (B.Com) or a Master’s degree in Accounting/Finance; CMA or CA certifications are highly preferred. [1, 2]
- Experience: Minimum 2 to 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing, steel, or cable/wire industry setting. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Tally ERP, Advanced MS Excel, and ERP systems. [1, 2, 3]
