Job Description:
A godown labourer for a PVC panel distributor handles the physical receipt, storage, and dispatch of bulky, fragile building materials. Key duties include loading/unloading trucks, organizing inventory by size and color, and preparing orders for dispatch, requiring basic physical fitness and care to prevent material damage. [1]
Core Responsibilities
- Loading and Unloading: Safely lift and move PVC panels, fluted sheets, and ceiling materials from delivery trucks to storage racks and from racks to outgoing transport.
- Order Picking & Packing: Accurately pull stock based on delivery challans, and securely wrap or bundle panels so they do not break or scratch during transit.
- Inventory Organization: Keep the warehouse clean and systematically organized by product type, color, and batch, ensuring aisles remain clear for movement.
- Quality Inspection: Check incoming materials for manufacturing defects, cracks, or damage, and report issues to the warehouse supervisor immediately.
- Warehouse Maintenance: Sweep, clean, and organize the godown daily to prevent dust or debris from ruining the stored stock.
Job Requirements
- Physical Stamina: Must be able to lift heavy loads (20–40 kg) and perform continuous physical labor throughout the shift.
- Product Care: An understanding of how to handle brittle PVC materials with care to minimize breakage.
- Basic Literacy: Ability to read product labels, tally item codes, and verify dispatch quantities on delivery notes.
- Experience: 0 to 2 years of warehouse or godown handling experience (specifically with building materials or hardware).
