Job Description:
A Senior Electrician in steel manufacturing installs, maintains, and repairs high-voltage industrial systems (e.g., induction furnaces, rolling mills, overhead cranes). Core duties include minimizing production downtime through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting PLC and AC/DC drives, and enforcing strict electrical safety standards like Lockout/Tagout (LOTO). Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Maintenance & Repair: Conduct daily inspections and preventive maintenance on high-tension/low-tension (HT/LT) panels, transformers, switchgears, and substations. [1, 2]
- Troubleshooting: Rapidly diagnose and resolve electrical breakdowns on heavy-duty mill motors, melting furnaces, and conveyor systems to prevent production bottlenecks. [1, 2]
- Automation & Control: Maintain and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), automation sensors, and AC/DC drives. [1, 2, 3]
- Installations: Assist in the erection, installation, and commissioning of new electrical infrastructure and heavy machinery. [1, 2]
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to industrial safety protocols, conduct grounding/earthing checks, and enforce LOTO procedures. [1, 2]
Typical Requirements
- Experience: Typically requires 2 to 7+ years of hands-on experience in heavy process industries (e.g., DRI, sponge iron, or captive power plants). [1, 2]
- Education: ITI (Electrician), Diploma in Electrical Engineering, or a Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech) depending on the seniority of the role. [1, 2]
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of HT/LT systems, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), Motor Control Centers (MCC), and industrial automation
