Job Description:
A Manager of Electrical (SMS - Steel Melting Shop) oversees the maintenance, installation, and repair of all electrical systems in a steel manufacturing environment. The role requires ensuring uninterrupted power supply to heavy-duty machinery (e.g., EOT cranes, furnaces) while meeting safety and production targets.
Core Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Reliability: Direct preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance for HT/LT systems, transformers, switchyards, motors, and VFDs.
- SMS Specifics: Oversee electrical assets critical to steel melting shops, such as induction furnaces, dust collectors, and heavy-capacity Double Girder EOT Cranes.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and manage workloads for a team of electrical engineers, technicians, and shift electricians.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce electrical safety norms, follow CEA regulations, and execute statutory electrical inspections.
- Inventory & Budgeting: Prepare material indents for electrical spares, manage spare parts inventory, and assist in departmental budgeting.
- Troubleshooting: Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for repeated equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Technical Specifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech).
- Experience: Minimum 8-12 years in heavy industries, specifically managing electrical operations in an SMS or Ferro Alloys plant.
- Equipment Knowledge: Hands-on expertise with Induction Furnaces, Continuous Casting Machines (CCM), and heavy industrial cranes.
- Safety Protocols: Thorough understanding of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, earthling systems, and industrial hazard compliance.
