Job Description:
A Pick-up and Delivery (P&D) Supervisor manages daily logistics, dispatch, and delivery operations. They oversee drivers, optimize routes, enforce safety standards, and ensure packages or freight are transported efficiently to meet strict delivery metrics and customer satisfaction goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Supervise and train drivers, dispatchers, and warehouse personnel.
- Route Optimization: Manage delivery routes and adapt to daily fluctuations in volume to minimize costs and transit times.
- Performance Monitoring: Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery rates, driver productivity, and fuel efficiency.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure the team follows all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, safety protocols, and company policies.
- Conflict Resolution: Address delivery delays, equipment failures, and customer service issues quickly and effectively.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate logs, driver records, and process payroll or performance reports.
Core Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: A High School diploma or GED is generally required, though an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business is often preferred.
- Experience: Typically requires 1-3 years of operational leadership or management experience in the transportation/logistics industry.
- Skills: Strong proficiency with fleet management and routing software, as well as Microsoft Office suite (specifically Excel).
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, and proven ability to lead a team in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
