Job Description:
A Quality Shift In-Charge oversees quality assurance and control during a specific shift, acting as the primary gatekeeper of product standards. They supervise inspection teams, enforce safety and compliance protocols, and rapidly contain defects to prevent them from reaching customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Shift Orchestration: Deploy quality inspectors across different production lines or commodity zones to ensure the timely validation of incoming materials and outgoing finished goods.
- Defect Management: Identify non-conformance, lead root-cause analysis, and oversee the containment and segregation of defective stock in quality hold areas.
- Process Auditing: Conduct routine process audits during the shift to ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety regulations are strictly followed.
- Reporting: Maintain detailed shift logs, track quality metrics (e.g., First Pass Yield, Defect Rate), and communicate findings to the Quality Manager.
- Team Leadership: Train, mentor, and schedule quality inspectors, ensuring production schedules align with strict quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a relevant science field.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in quality control or assurance, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Certifications: Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or ISO 9001 internal auditor certification is strongly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using precision measurement tools, statistical process control (SPC) software, and Microsoft Office.
