Head – Finance & Accounts
Job Description:
The Role
As the Head – Finance & Accounts, you will lead the Finance & Accounts function across both brands, ensuring financial discipline, statutory compliance, governance, and operational excellence. You will work closely with the Founder and leadership team to drive strategic decision-making, optimize business performance, strengthen financial controls, and build scalable financial processes that support long-term growth.
What would you be required to do?
• Lead the Finance & Accounts function across Design First and The Quarry, providing strategic financial leadership and supporting key business decisions.
• Manage, mentor, and develop the Finance & Accounts team, ensuring timely and accurate execution of accounting operations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, petty cash, employee reimbursements, vendor payments, banking transactions, reconciliations, statutory filings, and financial reporting.
• Oversee budgeting, financial planning, forecasting, treasury, cash flow management, working capital, and fund allocation across both businesses.
• Prepare and review monthly MIS reports, financial statements, cash flow reports, Revenue, EBITDA, Gross Margin, Net Margin, Overheads, and variance analysis to provide meaningful business insights.
• Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing, along with accurate maintenance of books of accounts.
• Establish and strengthen accounting policies, internal financial controls, governance frameworks, SOPs, and financial reporting processes.
• Partner with Sales, Procurement, Operations, HR, and other business functions to improve profitability, optimize costs, and enhance commercial decision-making.
• Oversee direct and indirect taxation, including GST, TDS, Income Tax, advance tax, statutory returns, annual filings, reconciliations, assessments, and related compliances.
• Review and approve payroll in coordination with the HR team, ensuring accurate salary processing, statutory deductions, Full & Final settlements, reimbursements, and effective management of the payroll partner.
• Ensure timely compliance with all statutory, regulatory, financial, labour, and corporate requirements, including GST, Income Tax, TDS, PF, ESIC, Professional Tax, ROC, Shops & Establishments, Labour Welfare Fund, and other applicable registrations, renewals, licenses and filings.
• Coordinate with Company Secretaries, Chartered Accountants, auditors, legal advisors, banks, consultants, and regulatory authorities on financial, statutory and corporate matters.
• Lead statutory, internal, tax, and other financial audits while ensuring timely closure of audit observations and implementation of corrective actions.
• Manage banking relationships, collections, vendor payments, liquidity planning, and monthly reconciliation of intercompany transactions and balances.
• Oversee all business insurance policies, including Group Mediclaim, Marine Insurance, Directors & Officers (D&O) Liability Insurance, Fire & Asset Insurance, Workmen Compensation Insurance, Professional Indemnity Insurance, and other business related insurance policies, ensuring timely renewals, claims management and adequate coverage.
• Maintain accurate financial, statutory, insurance, and legal documentation while driving continuous improvements in financial systems, governance, and operational efficiency.
• Lead strategic finance initiatives and support finance-related activities across affiliated entities, business verticals, and special projects as assigned by the Founder and leadership team.
Qualifications & Experience
• Chartered Accountant (CA) with 10–15 years of post-qualification experience, including at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven experience in Commercial Finance, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), P&L management, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, cash flow management, and working capital.
• Strong experience in accounting, taxation, statutory compliance, audits, financial reporting, and corporate governance.
• Experience in coordinating with Company Secretaries (CS), auditors, legal advisors, banks, and regulatory authorities.
• Prior experience in project-based industries such as Interior Design, Construction, Real Estate, Manufacturing, EPC, or similar sectors will be preferred.
• Experience working in a startup or high-growth organization will be an added advantage.
Skills & Qualities
• Strong working knowledge of Tally Prime, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting tools.
• Strong analytical, commercial, and strategic thinking abilities.
