Job Overview

The Production Engineer will be responsible for planning, supervising, and optimizing daily production activities while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and productivity. The role requires close coordination with design, purchase, stores, planning, and quality teams to ensure timely delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Execution

• Plan and monitor daily production schedules.

• Coordinate with Design, Purchase, Stores, and Planning departments for material availability.

• Allocate manpower effectively across fabrication and assembly operations.

• Ensure production targets are achieved within planned timelines.

• Monitor machine utilization and improve production efficiency.

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.

Quality Assurance & Inspection

• Conduct in-process and final inspections of fabricated and assembled components.

• Ensure manufacturing complies with engineering drawings and customer specifications.

• Perform dimensional inspections using Vernier Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gauges, and other measuring instruments.

• Monitor welding quality, fabrication standards, machining accuracy, assembly, and painting quality.

• Identify defects and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

• Maintain quality inspection records and documentation.

• Coordinate with customers and third-party inspectors during inspections.

Process Improvement

• Improve manufacturing processes to reduce rejection and rework.

• Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and 5S practices.

• Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Recommend productivity improvements for better machine and manpower utilization.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with workplace safety procedures.

• Conduct PPE inspections and safety audits.

• Maintain housekeeping standards across the production floor.

• Ensure adherence to ISO 9001 quality management systems and documentation.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma, B.E., or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

• Certification in Quality Management or Welding Inspection is an added advantage.

Experience Required

• 3–6 years of experience in Production Engineering within the manufacturing industry.

• Experience in one or more of the following industries is preferred:

  • EOT Cranes

  • Hoists

  • Heavy Engineering

  • Structural Fabrication

  • Industrial Machinery

  • Material Handling Equipment

  • Steel Fabrication

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly processes.

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.

• Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments.

• Knowledge of welding standards and quality control procedures.

• Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.

• Good leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and ERP software.
