About the Opportunity

Our client is one of the leading manufacturing organizations in India, looking for a senior HR & Industrial Relations professional to lead the complete HR & IR function for its manufacturing operations.

The role requires a strategic yet hands-on leader who can build strong employee relations, negotiate with recognized unions, drive industrial harmony, ensure statutory compliance, and support organizational growth through effective people management practices.

Key Responsibilities

Industrial Relations & Union Management (Core Responsibility)

• Lead the complete Industrial Relations function across manufacturing operations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with recognized Trade Unions.
• Independently handle Union Negotiations, Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA), Long-Term Settlements (LTS), and wage revision discussions.
• Negotiate productivity-linked settlements and bonus agreements.
• Handle labour disputes, grievance redressal, disciplinary actions, domestic enquiries, and employee counselling.
• Manage industrial unrest including strikes, lockouts, go-slow situations, and conflict resolution.
• Represent the organization before Labour Authorities, Labour Courts, Industrial Tribunals, and Government Departments.
• Develop proactive employee engagement initiatives to maintain industrial harmony.

Labour Law Compliance

• Ensure complete compliance with all Central and State Labour Laws.
• Handle inspections by Labour Department, Factory Inspectorate, EPF, ESIC, and other statutory authorities.
• Ensure compliance under:
  • Factories Act
  • Industrial Relations Code
  • Contract Labour (Regulation & Abolition) Act
  • EPF & ESIC
  • Minimum Wages Act
  • Bonus Act
  • Gratuity Act
  • Occupational Safety & Health Code
• Monitor contractor compliance and labour welfare activities.

Plant HR Leadership

• Lead Plant HR operations and manpower planning.
• Drive recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Support workforce productivity, succession planning, and talent development.
• Partner with Plant Leadership to improve operational efficiency and workforce effectiveness.
• Implement HR policies and best practices across manufacturing units.

Employee Relations

• Build a positive employee relations culture.
• Resolve employee grievances effectively.
• Drive employee welfare and engagement initiatives.
• Promote workplace discipline and organizational values.

Leadership Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the HR & IR team.
• Act as a strategic HR Business Partner to Plant Leadership.
• Collaborate with Corporate HR, Operations, Finance, Legal, Safety, and Administration teams.
• Maintain strong relationships with Government Authorities and external stakeholders.

Required Experience

• 15–25 years of experience in Human Resources & Industrial Relations.
• Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in Union Handling.
• Must have independently handled:
  • Union Negotiations
  • Collective Bargaining
  • Long-Term Settlements (LTS)
  • Wage Settlements
  • Labour Negotiations
  • Domestic Enquiries
  • Employee Relations
• Experience handling a workforce of 1000+ employees including contract labour.
• Strong exposure to manufacturing, engineering, steel, metals, mining, cement, automotive, or heavy industrial sectors.
