Job Description:

Process Engineer (PE) – Automotive Camera Module

  1. Job Purpose

Responsible for supporting the development, optimization, stabilization, and quality improvement of Automotive Camera Module manufacturing processes. The role focuses on process capability, yield improvement, process stability, customer quality, NPI introduction, problem solving, and continuous improvement from pilot build through mass production.

  1. Key Job Responsibilities
  • Process Development & Optimization: Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, define process parameters and process windows, and establish effective process controls to ensure stable production and consistent product quality.
  • Process Yield & Defect Improvement: Monitor process yield, FTT, scrap and rework; analyze process defects, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Process Capability & Statistical Control: Monitor CTQ characteristics and apply SPC, Cp/Cpk, MSA / Gage R&R, DOE and statistical analysis to reduce process variation and improve process capability.
  • PFMEA & Process Documentation: Create and maintain Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plan, SOP, WI and related process documents; identify process risks and establish appropriate controls.
  • NPI & Mass Production Introduction: Support prototype, trial run, pilot run, process validation and mass production ramp-up; work with R&D to review manufacturability and ensure process readiness.
  • Quality Support: Support process-related quality issues, customer complaints, 8D problem solving, customer audits, and follow-up of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Automotive Quality Support: Support APQP, PPAP, engineering changes, process validation, and other automotive quality requirements related to manufacturing processes.
  • Process Improvement & Cost Reduction: Drive continuous improvement projects to reduce defects, scrap, rework and manufacturing cost, and improve process efficiency and stability.
  • Cross-functional Coordination: Work closely with R&D, Quality, Production, Equipment, Supply Chain and customers to resolve process and quality issues and drive actions to closure.
  1. Core Competency Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of Automotive Camera Module assembly and manufacturing processes, including hands-on experience with process flow, key process parameters, critical-to-quality characteristics, and major manufacturing risks.
  • Strong process engineering and process quality capability, including process parameter optimization, process window definition, process validation, and process stabilization.
  • Good understanding and practical application of SPC, Cp/Cpk, MSA / Gage R&R, DOE, PFMEA, Control Plan, APQP, PPAP and other automotive quality and statistical tools.
  • Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving capability for manufacturing and customer quality issues, with the ability to use data to identify root causes and verify improvement effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with structured problem-solving methods such as 8D, 5 Why and Fishbone analysis.
  • Ability to analyze manufacturing and quality data, identify process variation and trends, and develop effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Experience in NPI, pilot run, process validation, engineering changes, customer issue resolution, and mass production ramp-up.
  • Ability to identify process risks and translate PFMEA findings into practical process controls, inspection methods, and operator work instructions.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing process improvement, defect reduction, scrap/rework reduction, and process stability improvement.
  • Good cross-functional communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with R&D, Quality, Production, Equipment, Supply Chain, and customers.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949; familiarity with AIAG-VDA FMEA and VDA 6.3 is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple engineering and quality activities, and drive issues to closure within the required timeline.
  1. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Process Yield / First Time Through (FTT)
  • Process Capability (Cp/Cpk)
  • Scrap and Rework Rate
  • Process Defect Rate
  • Process / Customer Quality Issue Closure
  • 8D Corrective Action Closure
  • NPI / Pilot Run Readiness
