SQE (Supplier Quality Engineer)
Job Responsibilities and Competency Requirements

  1. Job Purpose

Responsible for the quality management and improvement of supplier materials, components, and products to ensure compliance with company and customer quality requirements. Through supplier evaluation, process audits, NPI quality management, quality issue resolution, and continuous improvement, ensure supplier quality stability and reduce incoming material quality risks.

  1. Key Job Responsibilities
  • Supplier Quality Management: Manage supplier quality performance and monitor PPM, incoming material defect rates, customer complaints, and quality improvement performance.
  • Supplier Audit: Conduct Supplier Process Audits, Product Audits, and other quality audits to verify that supplier processes and quality systems meet requirements, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • New Supplier Evaluation: Participate in new supplier qualification, evaluation, and approval, including assessment of manufacturing processes, equipment, inspection capability, and quality management systems.
  • NPI / Mass Production Introduction: Support NPI, Trial Run, Pilot Run, FAI, PPAP, and Process Validation activities to ensure suppliers are fully prepared for mass production.
  • Supplier Process Quality Management: Monitor critical and special processes and drive the implementation of SPC, Cp/Cpk, MSA, PFMEA, Control Plan, and other quality control methods.
  • Incoming Quality Issue Management: Handle supplier quality issues identified by IQC, lead problem analysis, require suppliers to provide 8D, RCA, and CAPA reports, and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Quality Improvement: Lead improvement projects for major, repetitive, and high-risk quality issues to reduce PPM, defect rates, scrap, and rework.
  • Quality Documentation Review: Review and follow up on supplier quality documents, including PFMEA, Control Plan, SOP/WI, Inspection Standards, FAI, PPAP, SPC, MSA, and related records.
  • Supplier Change Management: Evaluate the quality impact of changes related to materials, processes, equipment, tooling, production locations, and sub-suppliers. Require re-validation when necessary.
  • Cross-functional Coordination: Work closely with IQC, IPQC, Process Engineering, R&D, Purchasing, and Customer Quality teams to resolve supplier quality issues effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Customer Quality Support: Support investigations of customer quality issues related to supplier materials or components and follow up on root-cause analysis and corrective actions at the supplier side.
  1. Core Competency Requirements
  • Strong supplier quality management skills, with the ability to independently monitor supplier quality KPIs, quality issues, and improvement activities.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with practical experience in using 8D, RCA, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, and other problem-solving methodologies.
  • Good knowledge of process quality management and the ability to apply SPC, Cp/Cpk, MSA, PFMEA, Control Plan, and other quality tools.
  • Supplier audit capability, including the ability to identify process risks, quality control gaps, and improvement opportunities.
  • NPI and PPAP/APQP quality management capability, with the ability to evaluate supplier quality readiness before mass production.
  • Strong cross-functional communication, coordination, and issue-driving skills, with the ability to work effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Strong quality awareness, risk identification, and data analysis capabilities, with the ability to use data to evaluate quality trends and improvement effectiveness.
  • Strong on-site problem-solving capability and willingness to support supplier on-site audits, quality issue investigations, and corrective action verification.
  1. Quality Tools and Professional Knowledge
  • 8D, RCA / 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, SPC, Cp/Cpk, MSA / GR&R, PFMEA, Control Plan, APQP, PPAP, FAI, Poka-Yoke, and 7 QC Tools.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 is required. Experience with IATF 16949 and Automotive Quality Management is preferred.
  1. Camera Module / Automotive Camera Experience
  • Familiar with materials, components, assembly, and testing processes related to Camera Modules and Automotive Cameras.
  • Experience in Automotive Camera development, manufacturing, or quality management is preferred.
  • Experience in supplier quality management for electronic, optical, mechanical components, or precision assembly products is preferred.
  1. Other Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in Engineering, Science, or other related technical fields.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in automotive camera development or manufacturing, with a good understanding of automotive camera manufacturing processes and quality management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (PPT).
  • Good English reading, writing, and communication skills, with the ability to use English for daily work communication and quality-related discussions.
  • Strong quality awareness, problem-solving and analytical skills, and good cross-functional communication and coordination abilities.
