Job Description:
A General Manager of Sales (GM Sales) is a senior leader who drives overall revenue growth, sets sales goals, and manages the entire sales team. They plan sales strategies, build client relationships, and analyze market data to ensure the company hits its financial targets.
Core Responsibilities
- Strategy & Planning: Create annual and quarterly sales forecasts, set revenue targets, and build plans to expand market share.
- Team Leadership: Hire, train, and coach sales managers and representatives to build a high-performance team.
- Account Management: Oversee major key accounts, handle high-level client negotiations, and maintain long-term business partnerships.
- Market Analysis: Study local competition, monitor industry trends, and adjust sales approaches to meet shifting market demands.
- Performance Tracking: Review sales dashboards and CRM reports to track progress and report financial updates directly to executive leadership.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 8 to 15+ years in B2B sales, business development, or a specific industry sector, with several years in a senior leadership role.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; a Master's degree or MBA is often preferred.
- Communication: Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret financial data, pricing margins, and sales metrics.
