Job Description:
An electrical maintenance job involves inspecting, troubleshooting, testing, and repairing electrical systems, wiring, equipment, and industrial machinery. The role ensures all electrical components operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry codes to minimize equipment downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose electrical faults in panels, wiring, motors, and control systems using testing tools like multimeters and ohmmeters.
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine scheduled checks on electrical assets to prevent unexpected breakdowns.
- Installation and Upgrades: Install new electrical fixtures, circuits, panels, or automated machinery components as needed.
- Blueprint Reading: Interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and wiring layouts to guide repair work.
- Safety Compliance: Follow strict safety protocols, such as lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and adhere to local electrical and building codes.
- Documentation: Keep detailed logs of repairs, inspections, and parts inventory used.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma plus completion of an electrician apprenticeship or a technical/vocational certification in electrical systems.
- Licensing: Valid state or local electrician license (Journeyman or Master Electrician preferred depending on the role level).
- Experience: 1 to 3+ years of hands-on experience in commercial, residential, or industrial electrical maintenance.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of electrical circuits, hand tools, diagnostic gear, and basic PLC or automation knowledge for industrial settings.
