Production Manager – Job Description
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Organization & Management
-
Supervise, organize, and coordinate production operations to achieve quality, cost, productivity, and delivery targets.
-
Plan and optimize resources including equipment, raw materials, manpower, and production capacity.
-
Monitor production performance and implement corrective and preventive actions wherever required.
-
Prepare and submit daily, monthly, and annual production reports.
-
Set productivity and production targets for the production team and monitor achievement against defined KPIs.
2. Leadership & Team Management
-
Lead and motivate production employees to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.
-
Manage manpower requirements, including recruitment, training, skill development, and performance management.
-
Provide clear direction and guidance to production teams.
-
Build a high-performance team culture focused on productivity, quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
3. Continuous Improvement & Innovation
-
Identify opportunities for improving production efficiency, productivity, yield, and cost effectiveness.
-
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, downtime, and manufacturing costs.
-
Analyze production-related problems and develop effective solutions.
-
Drive initiatives for process optimization and operational excellence.
4. Safety, Quality & Environment
-
Ensure strict compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, company policies, and statutory requirements.

Ensure all manufactured products meet defined quality standards and customer specifications.
-
Participate actively in internal and external audits and support corrective actions.
-
Contribute to crisis management and emergency response activities.
-
Draft, review, and update SOPs, procedures, work instructions, and production-related documentation.

Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant production environment.
5. Equipment & Maintenance Management
-
Coordinate with the maintenance department for preventive and breakdown maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
-
Ensure maximum equipment availability and minimize production downtime.
-
Troubleshoot and resolve technical and operational issues related to production machinery.
-
Identify recurring equipment problems and coordinate appropriate corrective actions.
Required Skills & Competencies

Working knowledge of ISO standards and quality management systems.

Ability to work effectively with Production, Quality, Maintenance, EHS, Stores, and other cross-functional teams.
